The Warrior Class
Embodied and Somatic Therapy Rooted in the Warrior Arts
Embodied and Somatic Therapy Rooted in the Warrior Arts
Through 40 plus years of experience in the martial arts: Chinese, Japanese, and Afro-Brazilian, we have found deep relevance in the lifestyle of the warrior. The Warrior Class is the culmination of decades of training and teaching experience in the martial arts, movement, music, and dance combined with study and clinical experience in counseling psychology, group work, gestalt, imaginal psychology, and somatic work.
Countless scientific studies show the efficacy of movement, music, martial arts, applied theater, and other aspects of ancient human culture in helping people come to terms with and overcome the obstacles that the modern world puts in our way.
Through a suite of modalities rooted in warrior culture, we work to holistically engage the subconscious mind, body, and soul. This allows us to address relational, emotional, somatic, aspects of the self using aspects of the warrior and cultural arts of Capoeira, Aikido, T'ai chi, Qigong, African and Diasporic dance, and Applied theater, as they overlap with clinically proven therapeutic practices.
We work in group, couple, and individual therapeutic formats. Upon performing an initial consultation, we would recommend one or more of these formats. Our track record includes work with youth, relationship counseling, pre-marriage retreats, substance abuse, anger management, working groups.
We are based in Southern California and are available for consultations by appointment only. Depending on the nature of working groups, we may post public group, workshop, and event information below. Please reach out if you require a consultation or have any questions.
