The Warrior's Healing Journey

Through 40 plus years of experience in the martial arts: Chinese, Japanese, and Afro-Brazilian, we have found deep relevance in the lifestyle of the warrior. The Warrior Class is the culmination of decades of training and teaching experience in the martial arts, movement, music, and dance combined with study and clinical experience in counseling psychology, group work, gestalt, imaginal psychology, and somatic work.

Countless scientific studies show the efficacy of movement, music, martial arts, applied theater, and other aspects of ancient human culture in helping people come to terms with and overcome the obstacles that the modern world puts in our way.

Through a suite of modalities rooted in warrior culture, we work to holistically engage the subconscious mind, body, and soul. This allows us to address relational, emotional, somatic, aspects of the self using aspects of the warrior and cultural arts of Capoeira, Aikido, T'ai chi, Qigong, African and Diasporic dance, and Applied theater, as they overlap with clinically proven therapeutic practices.

Our aim is to help clients, organizations, and communities create increased capacity, self-empowerment, self-understanding, and arrive at a sense of centeredness, growth, connection, confidence, and peace.

We work in group, couple, and individual therapeutic formats. Upon performing an initial consultation, we would recommend one or more of these formats. Our track record includes work with youth, neurodivergent folks, women survivors, men survivors, relationship counseling, pre-marriage retreats, substance abuse, anger management, working groups.

We work with all populations and affinity groups. As well, we are known for our work in Men’s Issues and Accountability, Non-Monogamy Coaching. Transformational Justice Mediation for community groups, martial arts schools, and arts associations. Safety trainings for the prevention, intervention, and resolution of misconduct.

We are based in Southern California and are available, globally, for consultations, by appointment only. Please reach out if you require a consultation, an affiliated clinician, or have any questions.

I loved Nasr's meditation class. He gave us the space to identify and care for our own needs while honoring the urgency of the genocide and military occupation. I left the class feeling rejuvenated and able to continue the work. I would love to have a meditation class with Nasr every week!

- H. A., Group participant

Since it was an online offering as part of a larger seminar, I didn't know what to expect. But after Nasr's first invitation to begin to move gently, my body immediately communicated to me, "yes, this was what I have been waiting for, thanks for giving me this opportunity!" Letting my body lead then, I was able to totally go with the flow, and the somatically intelligent prompts Nasr led with.

Nasr's unique combination of martial artistry, cultural work, and therapy is unparalleled in what it unlocks and makes possible in the life of a practitioner.
